The Sandy Creek Baptist Association was organized in 1758, largely because of the efforts of Shubal Stearns.  In that first meeting, three churches were present:  Sandy Creek, Abbott’s Creek, and Deep River.  By 1770, there were 42 churches, and our territory stretched from the Potomac River to Augusta, Georgia, and from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mississippi River.  For convenience’s sake, in 1770, the association was divided into three distinct bodies, the General Association of Virginia, the Sandy Creek in North Carolina, and the Congaree in South Carolina.  We are the third oldest association in the United States.  Only Charleston and Philadelphia are older.

Today, our Southern Baptist churches and missions are located in the central part of North Carolina.  We are committed to working together in sharing Jesus Christ with our communities, state, nation, and world.  We offer opportunities for training, fellowship, missions, evangelism, and more for all ages. You are welcome to join with one of our churches and experience the life of following Jesus.
